Society Challenge : H&M

Ok, let's just start by saying this Society Challenge was really tough...um... not in the way that Kmart was tough, but more like "I want to buy everything in the store" tough. Yes that's right, it was time for Sara and I to take on another challenge and we chose H&M. To be honest I hadn't been there in a while and forgot how much I love it! There were so many great choices for fall. Sara and I both agreed that we were so ready for fall - the warm wooly coat, tights, scarves - all the goodies.

We did focus, eventually, and chose one item to create two signature looks.



Walking over to the dressing room I realized my arm was rubbed raw from all the hangers I had been holding and I was thankful to hand them over in the salesgirl. Now, the dressing room always creates a sticky situation for our challenge. We both seem to enter with at least 15 items and of course they never let you have them all at one time. Pulling together the outfit becomes difficult because you have to decide what items to start with and what items to leave behind. Finally, after much rushing back and forth - we have our looks. Sara slinks across the hall and slips into my dressing room. There is exclamations as we both see each other and the photos are taken.

Sara went for a perfect Indian Summer ensemble. Layering the gold tunic with a tweed vest and throwing on a pair of skinny jeans rolled up to create a more casual look for the beginning of fall.



I chose to pretend it was crispy-cold outside and layered the gold tunic over an oversized three-quarter t-shirt, then pulled on some wooly leggings and topped off the ensemble with a long sweater dress/vest and a thick gray scarf.



Now if only I had the budget to walk out with the entire outfit and maybe 15 other things I loved. Oh well, maybe next month when I haven't spent all my money.

Society Challenge : Kmart

Kmart...mmmm...well what can I say. To be honest, I am not a big fan. This is supposed to be a challenge and Sara and I both felt that it wasn't fair to always pick stores that we love. So, we chose Kmart.



Now, some of you may have hidden treasures that you find at Kmart, and we did find that Kmart actually had some amazingly fun shoes, but it's just not our first choice to shop.

Anyway, back to the purpose of our excursion - putting together an outfit using one of the same item. (I forgot to take a photo of the item, but it was a green and white striped collared rubgy-style shirt)

After searching around the store (using any clothing department - boys, girls, women, etc.) we headed to the dressing room with our stacks. Sara seemed to have a plan.. I on the other hand was at a loss. Sara finished her changes in minutes and I scrambled (maybe my creative juices weren't flowing) - finally, the moment of truth came...

and Sara rocked it! She worked the little boys department. Pairing the striped shirt with little boy jeans shorts (rolled), a little boys camo tshirt (knotted with a rubberband) layered it over the top, and of course the fabulous boots.



My combination seemed to be a little reminicent of the "Pink Ladies" from Grease. Without much layering I high waisted the pants, flipped my belt backwards to use the grey tones, and tucked in the top - Summer Lovin!



With the challenge over we headed out for some girl chatter over greasy mexican food.

Society Challenge : Target

So here we are again! The day has finally arrived for the second installment of Society Challenges, where my girl Sara and I take on TARGET!




I realized the first time around that I didn't lay out all the rules for you Society readers out there. To make everything a little more clear, these are the challenge details:

1. We choose ONE store for each challenge.
2. Once inside the store, I choose one item that we both have to build an outfit around.
3. We split up to grab everything interesting in sight.
4. No peaking!
5. Outfit has to consist of all items from chosen store, with the exception of shoes and accessories that we are already wearing.
6. We enter the dressing room and seperately begin to create.
7. No peaking!

Finally, when all has been decided and we both feel confident in our choices we step out and REVEAL the masterpiece.... it is always amazing to me how we come up with our own unique look!

Target is a fun choice because of the new designers that are featured every few months. This time around we had Patrick Robinson to work with.

This shirt was our centerpiece.

We had a blast and we can't wait for next month!

Society Challenge : Forever 21

This is me, me and my great friend Sara. Sara is a designer. Me, I'm the girl writing this blog and opening the store.



We are on a new quest: take the retail world by storm, create signature looks with an identical article of clothing. Can we do it? Can we be unique, while matching? Will we revert to our middle school years and come out of the dressing room with the same outfit on? You are about to find out....
