New Finds, New Ideas

Welcome to the latest addition to The Vintage Society content! New finds will be discovered and and new ideas will inspire.

When I am up and out shopping, I start with perusing each rack and grab anything and everything that looks interesting. I don't put much thought into each item until I head to the dressing room. This is where the process of elimination begins - weeding out what doesn't suit me or isn't fabulous - once determined I head to the register and make my purchases.

The moment I step outside the door, my creativity takes over and I immediately begin to think, "What do I have in my closet to work with this skirt?", "What could inspire a few looks?"

The wheels are churning and now instead of all these ideas living in my mind.. I bring you...

New Finds, New Ideas..

Back to being a full time Society Girl!

Batman's back with a vengeance and that means I am back!

My fixation with the "POW" - "BLAM" Batman has spreads it's caped wings further into my wardrobe. Ever since my encounter with the vintage Batman watch that I walked away from, I have been feeling the loss - and searching endlessly on Ebay for just the right one.

At last the Night Crusader is telling me it's time to get back to being a full time Society Girl! I am glad to be back....

Thanks to all who left words of well wishes! I am sorry it took so long, but sometimes you have to let your health be priority. I am on the road to recovery and have a lot more energy to devote to all you Society Girls. You have been missed!

Say Hello to SWIRLING!

One of the best things about starting The Vintage Society Blog has been the constant connections that I am able to make with others inside the fashion industry. I love it!

Earlier this year, as I was just beginning to research ideas for The Vintage Society store, I stumbled on SWIRL, a website introducing the fabulous designs of Evelyn & Suzanne (or The Swirl Girls) and the store where they sell their collection. At the time I was mesmerized by the interiors of their little shop in Singapore. The colors they chose, their displays, their clothes - all seemed to be pulling me in. If only I were able to hop on a plane and stop inside the shop.

Recently I discovered that not only are they Swirl Girls, they have become Society Girls. It is fun to think that we are inspiring each other across an ocean. This is a perfect example of what The Vintage Society is all about - girls inspiring each other to greater fashion heights and better selves.

So, it's now your turn to swirl into their shop (if you live in Singapore) or online (they ship internationally)! Their designs are beautiful with a vintage flare, this little number is my absolute favorite - it's called the Betsy Dress!

The Purge!

It was time to purge - the closet that is. I was feeling a little overwhelmed with clothes, shoes and accessories that I was not wearing. They were perfectly fine and very wearable... but just sitting there unused - so purge I did. BUT - the best thing about purging is not getting rid of clothes - it is about getting new clothes.

After filling two bags I headed over to Crossroads Trading Post (it is a great store that buys, sells and trades clothes with customers - also check out Buffalo Exchange). There is nothing better than leaving those bags on the counter and starting to peruse the store for "new" items to refill my closet. I know.. I know.. kind of defeats the purpose.

I hear my name called and find out that I have traded a heap of money to be spent in the store. Good thing, cause I am already holding eight dresses in my hand. Got to love it!

Fifteen minutes later I made my decision and walked out as proud owner of these two new dresses and some funky shoes that I will display later.

I can't wait to put together new outfits with these simple jersey dresses. (I already have plans to wear the grey one at a party I am hosting tomorrow night!)
