Instant Outfit: Mall Fix

Your plane touches down in City, USA.. you anticipate all the pre-wedding festivities of your high school buddy.. wonder who you will run into.. wonder if that boy will be there and if you might shimmy and shake with him on the dance floor. With excitement you head to the baggage claim - YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE OCCURS!

The bag holding all your "I-have-grown-up-to-be-fabulous" outfits missed the connection and will not arrive until the next day!

Not to worry, Instant Outfit shows you how any local mall will hold that outfit that says, "I am a bright lights and big city girl, and no baggage missap can say otherwise".

Stores that can solve your crisis- clockwise:

Anthropologie, Old Navy, , Forever 21, Top Shop (well, only if you live in the UK)

Weekend Recap: The Caped Crusader

Thanks to Luella's Spring '08 runway, I have a new fixation on Batman's wearable memorabilia.... you know the "POW" - "BLAM" Batman from the old days. Luella mixed dainty floral prints, preppy cardigans and Batman - only she would come up with something so.. fabulously quirky.

"Batman-mania" took on a new life when I discovered a vintage Batman watch behind the counter of my local thrift store. I walked away without purchasing the caped crusader's time ticker, but soon found myself searching Ebay for anything Batman.

After sorely losing one after the other, I finally received this in the mail...

(Batman T-shirt - Ebay, Skirt - old skool Express, Booties - Steve Madden)

(Giraffe 80's T-shirt and Checkered scarf- thrifted, Bandage skirt - Black/White House, Booties - Steve Madden)

(Vest - Vintage, T-shirt - Quiksivler Womens, Jeans - H&M, Shoes - thrifted)

(Hat - Vintage Estate Sale , Jacket - Crossroads Trading Post, Skirt, Boots and Belt - thrifted, Socks- H&M)

Inside SiteLA

Peek inside SiteLA.. where the work will be done.. and The Vintage Society will grow...

Alice in Wonderland

Last night's SiteLA party was a blur of activity and I am still reeling from all the excitement. I have two numb toes from wearing platforms for six hours, but I am a girl with a smile still on my face.

Here's the gist of what it looked like:

Days leading up to the party there were hours spent preparing "Beth's Closet" which featured clothes, inspiration, and the "Society Girl" short film. Pre-party activities included meeting with press and introducing them to "The Vintage Society". As the hour approached, PR reps manned the doors with "the list" and the crowd started pouring in. It was slammed and slammin' - the music, food and just about everything was perfect.

I feel like I am Alice in Wonderland. I have fallen down a rabbit hole and I am discovering a whole new adventurous world.

Here's a peek into Wonderland...

Weekend Recap: Basic Training

I have a problem... I don't buy basics! Definition of basics, "something that is fundamental; an essential ingredient... for one's wardrobe".

I am too often drawn to the unique - colorful - printed coat, dress or skirt. I forget to buy the basic tank top, shirt or pants. This causes difficulties when going to put an outfit together. I look in the closet and see a bunch of hodgepodge with no foundation, and you need the foundation to build upon.

I decided to start the weekend with a mission to find some basics. Baby steps to basics... baby steps to basics... for my first time I did pretty good. Three out of four purchases were basic.. I think!

(The Basic - Striped shirt - Gap, Skirt and belt - thrifted, tights - Target, Shoes - Steve Madden)

(The Basic - Army green shirt - American Apparel, Skirt and Vest - thrifted and tie-dyed by me, shoes - Payless)

(The Basic - another striped shirt, Pants and Socks - H&M, Shoes - BeBe, hat - estate sale)
