My Conundrum

My conundrum is this...

It's true. My husband is a true blue, sad when they lose, elated when they win, screamin and yellin Los Angeles ANGELS Fan (for ones who don't know, it's a baseball team). And yes, since we have been together I have become a devoted fan as well but I have a problem with the oh-so-terrible fan gear that they try to sell you.

I really want to go all out and support the team, but not in a itchy un-flattering red t-shirt. I have tried different tatics to look the part: wearing the colors of the team in "my-kinda-style" way - even pairing angel wings with my outfit, but up until this point I have not actually worn something proclaiming the greatness of the ANGELS.

Until now....





P.S. The Vintage Society store will feature "Fan Fare" which will be reconstructed vintage clothing with your favorite sports team logo. That way... if your man is a fan or if you are a fan you can still look smokin hot when you go to the games.

The Surprise

I love surprises! I love surprises that involve clothes! I love surprises that involve clothes that I really want. Today I got one of those surprises!

I went thrifting to look for a blazer (I am working a project... I will fill you later) and found a really cute red cropped double-breasted blazer with gold buttons. It was actually part of a suit set. I didn't want the skirt, but since they wouldn't sell it separately I went ahead and bought it.

This is where the surprise comes in! I was going through my purchases when to my delight I discovered that the skirt had a paperbag waist and front pockets, currently, two of my favorite things.

Boy, was I surprised!

Mix it Up!

I spent some time adding a little art gallery to my bedroom this weekend. When the store opens, I know most of my energy will go into designing the interior and my home will be lower on the priority list.

My husband and I have lived in our little 1940's cottage for a little over two years, and we have loved every minute of it. I am a quick decision maker and decorator so I had basically finsished the entire house before we even physically moved in.

Now after time, I am ready to add and redo things. Mix it up! I figure I better get it done while I can... so here is my first addition to our room.

I will keep you posted as my home evolves over the year.

One of my Secrets

I am going to let you in on one of my little secrets. One that could be very profitable to some of you... ecspecially if you live in the Southern California area.

Its a matter of the "Skinny Jeans", the trend that caused problems for me. Finding the right pair of jeans is hard enough, but to find a pair with the title "skinny". How was that going to work? I am the Marilyn Monroe body type, so it would be a lot easier to find a pair of jeans titled "the hour glass jeans". But.. I was determined to find a pair that fit.

On an errand day, one where I frequent strip malls with Target or Rite Aid, I stumbled on the store "Fashion Gal". Now, I know that everyone has one of these type of stores in their town. The cheap trendy clothing store that is called "Fashion Time" or "In Fashion" or something like that. The clothes are often cut really small and are not the best quality, but they can be a fun place to find trends that you know you will not wear for long. Anyway, I was in "Fashion Gal" and they were selling Skinny Jeans, they actually looked pretty cute so I thought "what the heck, I'll try them on". Let me tell you, they are now my favorite pair of jeans and they only cost $21.99. I even bought them in black as well.

So society girls out there, if you happen to be running errands, stop into your local "Fashion Gal" and look for jeans labeled "Forever USA". They might just be your answer to the skinny jean trend.

Warm, Cozy and Comfortable

The week is coming to a close and I am anticipating the oh-so-wonderful weekend! It is a comfy thursday evening and I have been reflecting on the past month. The journey to opening a store is sometimes overwhelming, but I have been so encouraged and thankful for all you "society girls" out there.

My creative energy is overflowing and it is great to have a place to "let it all hang out". Thank you for being there, for reading, commenting and being inspired. It won't be long until we can actually meet face to face, try on clothes and create together.

I have some projects in the works that I will be sharing with you as they develop so keep on coming back.

THE SOCIETY GIRL OF THE WEEK

I could go on and on about this week's Society Girl. Her style is one that continually inspires me. Sometimes her choices are risky and may even be mistakes but without question she always leaves an impression.

She doesn't conform to one look or even what is "celeb trendy" at the time (If I am correct she has been wearing the white raybans long before Mary Kate and Ashley ever even thought about it). She can be really eccentric with what she chooses to wear or incredible chic.

So here is another look inside the world of "The Vintage Society". I have been hard at work building the inventory for the store. Some things need repairs, drycleaning and reconstruction but each item is unique and beautiful.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

This morning I woke up begrudgingly, not wanting to face the cloud covered weather outside, but as I looked out my window I saw bright reminders that it is May and all the flowers are out and about.

Seeing the pops of yellow, red and pink out in my yard inspired thoughts of wearing and accessorizing with florals.

My favorite design team, Jovovich-Hawk, seemed to agree that the garden was a perfect muse for their Spring 2007 collection.
