SOCIETY GIRL OF THE WEEK

These weeks fly by so quickly and we approach our chance to be inspired by a "Society Girl" once again.
This girl would definitely be a part of "The Vintage Society" - sharing style secrets, expressing her opinions and delving into fashion fancies. She probably would have taken over and lead the brigade forcing vintage victory over the masses.

I recently referred to my inclination towards "The Frosting Side of Fashion" and there is no one better to inspire us this week than... Marie Antoinette.

Summer Must-Haves

Memorial Day has come and gone and that means summer is here, or at least it is around the corner! Summer is the best season, well, I say that about every season... but it is one of the best! Summer means backyard parties, days at the beach, sunshine and warmth, vacations to great locations, time with friends and family and .... SUMMER CLOTHES!

Summer clothes that are cool and breezy: sandals, airy dresses, sunglasses and hats!

To jump start my summer wardrobe I have put together a list of must-have items.

The first must-have is a great pair of sandals. I like a shoe with a heel that elongates the legs and yellow is perfect for the sunny days ahead. Now if I could just find these at a cheap price!

The second is my continuing search for the perfect pair of high-waisted jeans. I have yet to find some that look good and are affordable... maybe the summer will bring me luck in my quest.

Ohhh... and I can't wait to find a cute little "Marilyn Monroe" bathing suit. I haven't decided if I will go the vintage direction or something vintage-inspired like this one from Urban Outfitters.

And last but not least, is the oh so snazzy HAT! I can just see it now paired with a girly summer dress and espadrilles all toughened up with the hat.

So there you have it. My summer must-haves. I will fill you in as these dreams come true!

Wardrobe Remix Challenge: African Safari III

Here is my second installment of a look that was inspired by the Vogue editorial.

This look turned out much more literal, if only I was really setting off for a safari around Africa. I sure look ready to take it on..

Though I was not heading out for an adventure in the wild... I was heading to an adventure in LA. These are the days that I love living in California. Spending the day in Hollywood, wandering the halls and gardens of the Getty Museum and then off to dinner by the beach. I LOVE IT!!!

All you society girls out there who live in Cali, you know what I mean...

Wardrobe Remix Challenge: African Safari II

So as promised, I tried to pull together an outfit inspired by the Vogue editorial below. Here is my finshed product..

Wardrobe Remix Challenge: African Safari

I have to be honest. As we are taught, honesty is the best policy. My confession to you is...

I have been in somewhat of a fashion inspiration slump. Not completely, I mean I haven't resorted to wearing UMBROS and my old college t-shirt, but I have felt slump-ish.

I have these moments every now and then when I just stare at my closet, I stand there, I pull out a shirt, stare some more - try to construct and build in my mind - something FABULOUS! But, nothing comes... ahhhh!

So, in the effort to re-awaken the juices I am giving myself a challenge:"Find a stirring and motivating magazine editorial and use it to produce an outfit".

I am up for the challenge!

What better place to turn than.. VOGUE! and I found it, an editorial that makes me crazy with excitement..it is truly beautiful.

While you are perusing and musing over this amazing peice of art.. I will be working on my creation... hope to post it soon. CHECK back!

SOCIETY GIRL OF THE WEEK

Now this one is a little cliché, but there is still no one like her! No one inspires more than her. She made dancing in her underwear, hailing a cab, typing on her computer and walking her boyfriend's dog look FREAKIN AMAZING!

Her style never stopped suprising me, every season was something new. She created trends (flower pins, high-head buns, fur coats) that still look classic six years later.

I know you all know who I am talking about... Miss Carrie Bradshaw!

Gearing up for Summer

A recap...

It was an incredible experience doing my first shoot for The Vintage Society. "Patriot Act" turned out better than I could have imagined! I really wanted to create a look that would be signature to the store and also inpiring to the society girls out there as you get ready for some summer fun! Those hot and sultry days are fast approaching, so time to gear up.

The first of the three looks is ideal for your excursion to Paris or a bike ride around Martha's Vineyard. I don't know how practical it would be, but you sure would be "Sartorialist-worthy".

The second look exudes casual glamour for that outdoor summer wedding your attending. I can just see it now, you are standing on the bluffs overlooking the ocean, "At Last" hangs in the air, the bride and groom twirl around the floor - and you are stealing the show! All eyes are on you - whoops.

The third is perfect for America's favorite pastime - the backyard BBQ. Throw a bathing suit on underneath, slip off the shoes and eat some grub. You'll be (like the wings on the grill) smokin' hot!
