Now I know that while in New York you should be shopping at all the hot-spots and hitting up the trail of boutiques that line the streets, but I was a girl on a budget. Besides, I was there to see clothes - not to buy clothes...
...But I couldn't resist the lure of a thrift store. Especially when that thrift store was right around the corner from my hotel. I went in with low expectations. In the past, I have journeyed into NYC thrift stores with high hopes, and then departed unsatisfied.

I love your instant outfits! So many great ideas. Thanks so much for these, you're still filling my Jane void.
So curious! Which thrift store were you around the corner from? I'm in NYC and I'm putting together a thrift store crawl for my friends.
The thrift store was a Salvation Army on 8th Ave and 20th Street!
I always had excellent luck myself at Salvation Army's in NYC. Can I ask you - Where did the orange bag with the appliques come from (in instant outfit pics)?
Beth, this is Ryan Zeulner.
Check out what my sister-n-law is doing with her brand called re:made. its perfect for your blog. They are online at etsey and in at least one store (a road less traveled). They take vintage pieces and remake them.
